Tyrone Marc Jackson was born on June 4th
, 1966, to Percy, who preceded him in death, and Kay Jackson in Detroit, Michigan. Ty, as he was affectionately called by most, was one of five siblings, Darren (preceded him in death), Steve, Linda, and Kelly.
Tye was a very opinionated child and would always speak his mind. He loved cars, motorcycles, and sound systems. He was always buttoned up, dressing to impress for every occasion. Tye attended Detroit Public Schools graduating from Mumford High School in 1984. Upon graduating from high school, Tye wanted to enlist in the armed services, but because he wore braces, he was not accepted. Through his fathers’ urging, he applied for and was accepted as a Wayne County Sheriff in 1986, thus beginning a long and successful career in law enforcement.
Next to his family, his love and respect for law enforcement was palpable. During his twenty-two-year Career, Tye worked in the County Jail, and transitioned to the narcotics division working as an undercover officer. In 1996, he would join a task force, code name “CHIEF”, manned by federal, state, and local law enforcement officers to combat the interminable war on drugs. Tye was promoted and retired from the transportation division as a Sergeant. While a Wayne County Sheriff, he received several awards and commendations for his work ethic, leadership, professionalism, and service from federal and county agencies.
Retiring in 2008 from the County, Tye became a Lead Court Security Officer (CSO) for the U.S. Marshal’s Office. He would share stories of his team holding bible study before work and sharing war stories from their law enforcement days. Tye would make it his business to learn the names of all the federal attorneys and judges he would greet each day. He would inquire about their day and their families, displaying genuine concern for both. He was greatly loved and appreciated by everyone who knew him.
Tyrone was a gym enthusiast. He went to the gym nearly every day. In fact, on his last conscious day of life, Tyrone had a leg day in the gym. He was a sucker for sweets, but he was committed to living a healthier lifestyle. Tyrone would stay in his family and extended family’s ears about eating right, working out and attending to good health. So, one can only imagine how his family feels losing him so suddenly.
Tyrone was a beloved father to three sons, Corey, Chauncey, and Chase. His love affair with the family began the day he met Corey. Chauncey Jackson was born, and his heart grew larger still. When Chase came along, Ty felt his team was complete. He enjoyed watching the boys play every sport, participate in every school program, and master life lessons along the way. No matter what was going on in his life, Tyrone stopped, dropped, and rolled to support the boys whenever they called. He was very proud of them and their accomplishments as he watched them grow into the men they are today.
Tyrone married his greatest love in 1999, Danielle (Bivens) Jackson. They would enjoy traveling together and raising their blended family. Corey married his sweetheart, Erika, and last year, they had their first child, Ty’s first grandson; Corey Jr. Tyrone was so in love with “CJ” and would go to great lengths just to see him smile. Everyone who knew Tye well understood his passion for his family. He was proud of their achievements, wishing they remain healthy, spiritually connected, and engaged with God, be kind and respectful.
On Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, surrounded by his wife, children, and family, Tyrone would take his final breath. Accepting God at a young age we know Tyrone is with our Heavenly Father shining his light and love on us. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Danielle, his mother Kay, his mother and father-in-law, James, and Denise Bivens, his three sons, Corey (Erika), Chauncey and Chase; his grandson, Corey Jr; his siblings Steve (Shawn), Linda, and Kelly; his Uncle Henry; his brother-in-law, James Bivens III (Kim), nephews, nieces, and a host of cousins’, family, and friends.
