November 8, 1962 – August 15, 2024
Linda Karen Jackson was born on November 8, 1962, to Percy and Kay Jackson in Detroit, Michigan. Affectionately known as Lyn, she was one of five siblings: Darren, Tyrone (who preceded her in death), Steve, and Kelly.
From an early age, Linda demonstrated a resolute and determined spirit, always standing firm in her beliefs. She graduated from Ferndale High School and soon embarked the workforce in security positions. For a decade, she worked at a steel company in South Lyon, Michigan, where she encountered racial discrimination. Undeterred, Linda championed her rights by hiring an attorney and pursuing a lawsuit that ultimately reached the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, in the case of Jackson vs. Quantex Corporation (1999).
During this challenging period, Linda also pursued her a career in barbering, earning her license and establishing a successful self-employed career that spanned over thirty years. A dedicated professional, she worked at various barber shops in Detroit, specializing in a wide array of hair styling options, and building a loyal clientele.
She valued quality over quantity, a preference evident in her impeccable style and her meticulous approach to keeping things organized and tidy. Which also transferred to her craft and was without a doubt one of the best barbers amongst her peers.
Linda was a truth seeker on wide range of topics and interests. From politics to real estate to the complexities of monetary systems, she was an avid reader and researcher. While exploring her own path to health and wellness, she shared her discoveries enthusiastically with friends and family, often sending articles on diverse topics. A strong advocate for nourishing her body, Linda prioritized fruits and vegetables and was delving into the alkaline diet. She enlightened those close to her on healthy habits by going to the gym and sharing natural remedies to heal our bodies.
Her love for animals was evident with Bear, her Pug, was more than a pet; he was her beloved “son.” After his passing in 2023, she looked forward to welcoming a Georgia Bulldog into her life. Sundays were a highlight, filled with “road trips” through southeast Michigan alongside her mother and sister as they explored new dining spots to create memorable experiences.
In recent years, Linda juggled her work schedule and joined a team of caregivers to provide our mom 24-hour care at home. While bravely battling her own cancer, she dedicated herself to showing up every day to help with what was needed. Though deeply saddened by her mother’s passing, Linda found comfort in having been by her side during her final chapter.
Before Linda’s passing while in the hospital she wanted to share with everyone some words of wisdom which was “To love on one another because you never know how much time you have left”.
Linda was a fighter to the end. Although, she lost her fight in the natural but gained her wings to be with the lord. She transitioned on August 15, 2024. Her faith and belief in GOD what she would often refer to as “The Most-High” brought her comfort, and we find solace knowing she is now with our Heavenly Father.
She is remembered by her brother Steve (Shawn), her sister Kelly, sister-in-law Danielle, nephews Corey (Erika), Chauncey, Chase, and Steve Jr., nieces Isheena, Antoinette, Kaymeka, and Shaunte, along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, her Uncle Henry, cousins, and a host of family, friends, and clients.
Linda was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
